Tourbillon Heure Minute – Akriva
From complication to simplicity; the Tourbillon Hour Minute AK-02 is the second timepiece created by AkriviA, and it is all about the purity of time. While the tourbillon is not traditionally considered a complication, it remains a challenging mechanism to implement. When built well, the tourbillon enhances the chronometric performance of a timepiece by averaging out positional errors.
Even though the AK-02 lacks an obvious seconds hand, the one-minute rotation of the tourbillon cage effectively functions as a hyper-precise seconds indication. The dial display focuses on simplicity, but simple doesn’t mean easy. Hours and minutes by hand, hyper-precise seconds by tourbillon. AkriviA is Greek for “precision” — the Tourbillon Hour Minute AK-02 is precision embodied.
The Akrivia Tourbillon Heure Minute, also known as the AK-02, exemplifies the brand's dedication to horological purity and precision. As Akrivia's second creation, it focuses on the essential elements of timekeeping, presenting hours and minutes with exceptional clarity and elegance.
Key Features:
- Movement: The manually wound movement is entirely developed and produced in-house by Akrivia. It comprises 163 components and 33 jewels, operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz). The movement offers a substantial power reserve of approximately 100 hours.
- Tourbillon: Positioned at 6 o'clock, the tourbillon has a diameter of 9.6 mm and weighs 0.45 grams. It completes a full rotation every 60 seconds, effectively serving as a precise seconds indicator.
- Case and Dial: The watch features a 43 mm case with a thickness of 12.9 mm, crafted from stainless steel. Both the front and back are fitted with sapphire crystals treated with anti-reflective coating. The grey steel dial boasts a matte-polished finish, achieved through a meticulous hand-finishing process that involves a blend of crushed rock and oil, resulting in a perfectly homogeneous matte surface.
- Finishing: Exemplifying haute horlogerie standards, the movement is adorned with 36 inward angles, black polish, Côtes de Genève, hand graining, hand polishing, rhodium finishing, manual circular graining, and hand engraving. These meticulous finishing techniques highlight the exceptional craftsmanship involved in its creation.
Additional Information:
The Tourbillon Heure Minute is presented on a hand-sewn blue alligator strap, secured with a pin buckle engraved with the Akrivia logo. The watch is water-resistant up to 3 ATM (30 meters), ensuring durability alongside its intricate mechanics.
This timepiece stands as a testament to Akrivia's dedication to blending traditional watchmaking techniques with contemporary design and innovation. Its focus on the essential elements of timekeeping, coupled with impeccable finishing, makes it a distinguished addition to any horological collection.
